Bass Gear Roundup: The Top Gear Stories in April 2020
Another month in the books means that we’re ready to celebrate the top gear stories. Here are the No Treble reader top 10 bass gear stories for the month of April 2020.
1. Fender Japan Launches Heritage Series Basses
Fender Japan has unveiled a new line of instruments called the Heritage Series that recreates features from the company’s past. The series was developed with Mark Kendrick, an original founding master builder of the Fender Custom Shop.
2. Schecter’s Banshee Bass Now Shipping
Schecter is now shipping the Banshee Bass, a short-scale instrument they unveiled at the 2020 Winter NAMM Show. The vintage-styled instrument features a split-coil style bass with a 30-inch scale.
3. Kala Introduces Bamboo U-Bass
Kala released a new U-Bass this year that they say is their most sustainable choice. The ukulele-sized acoustic/electric bass guitar is made entirely out of bamboo.
4. Sire Announces the U5 Passive Short Scale Bass
After unveiling the prototype at last year’s NAMM Show, Sire is nearing the launch of their new U5 model. The bass is a short-scale instrument using their Marcus Miller Small Jazz Type body and P/J pickups.
5. Chris Seldon Guitars Unveils Ranger 4/34 Bass
Chris Seldon Guitars (formerly Owl Bass Guitars) has announced their new flagship model called the Seldon Ranger 4/34. The new instrument features a full 34-inch scale and will be the company’s base model.
6. G&L Announces the CLF Research L-2500 Bass
G&L Guitars has unveiled a new model in their throwback series paying respects to Leo Fender’s CLF Research company, which was the predecessor to G&L. The five-string CLF Research L-2500 is made in Fullerton, California.
7. Fodera Announces 37th Anniversary Monarch Deluxe Model Basses
Fodera is celebrating its 37th year in business with new anniversary models through its dealer network. The basses are a limited edition run of the company’s Monarch Deluxe model that will come in both four and five-string versions.
8. BITE Guitars Announces the Dragon Bass
BITE Guitars launched last year with the customizable Punch and Jawbone models. Now they’ve announced their first preconfigured instrument called The Dragon Bass.
9. MOD Devices Announces the MOD Dwarf Effects Processor
MOD Devices has unveiled its latest creation, called the MOD Dwarf. The unit is a powerful and compact effect processor with an open platform for “platform for effects, amp simulations, cabinets, virtual instruments, synthesizers, and MIDI utilities.”
10. Gruv Gear Announces LYNK Pedalboard
Musical accessory company Gruv Gear has announced a new product for effects lovers called the LYNK Pedalboard and the accompanying Pedalboard Kapsule Case.
