Joey Jordison: Slipknot Will Not Replace Paul Gray

Paul GraySlipknot drummer Joey Jordison, currently on tour with Rob Zombie, has announced that Slipknot will not replace Paul Gray and will continue making music without a dedicated bassist. Gray was found dead on May 24th, with the cause of death later revealed to be a morphine overdose.

Slipknot is in the early stages of their next record and Jordison said that guitarists Jim Root and Mick Thompson will hold down the low end in the studio.

“We’re not gonna have anyone come in,” Jordison said. “But live, we’ll deal with that when it comes.”

Slipknot’s next album isn’t expected before 2012. Slipknot band members are currently working independently, with singer Corey Taylor and Root about to release a new album out in September with Stone Sour and Jordison also releasing an album with his side band, Murderdolls.
