Way Of The Groove with Pastorius Brothers: “Havona” Live

Recorded earlier this summer, here’s Jaco Pastorius’ twin sons and their “Way of the Groove” band performing their father’s tune “Havona”.

This combo was originally formed following a gig celebrating Jaco in 2002, with Felix on bass, Julius on drums, Colin James on sax and keyboards and Adam Lucas on guitar.

Dig Felix’s extended solo on this one.

  1. Felix had big ass shoes to fill, whilst standing in a very large shadow. Not only has he managed to fill those shoes, and even add his own laces, he’s stepped out of his dads shadow and improved on and evolved various techniques and what not. Much in the same way that Matthew Garrison and Dweezil Zappa have done. Also, Julius is a serious drummer. Thank you for posting this.

  2. BRAVO! It’s obvious the Pastorius boys inherited their father’s musical gifts. I just hope they didn’t also inherit their father’s affliction. Much success to them.

  3. Sounds great! I’m sure pops lookin down proud azz can be!

  4. I think this might be living proof that musical ability is genetic – it’s definitely a factor in my family! Yet, we are all musicians or artist undiscovered in the human condition…one only has to find their niche!

  5. This is great! Felix is his own man, he’s great!
