NS Design Announces NXT-Series Omni Bass

NXT-Series-Omni-Bass-fullNS Design has introduced an NXT-Series version of their Omni Bass, an electric upright that sports a 34? scale like that of a bass guitar.

The new instrument is designed for the bass guitarist interested in adding the character and expressiveness of an upright.

Available in 4- and 5-string models, the NXT Omni Bass is built with a solid maple body and neck. The ebony fingerboard features the TransRadius profile – 10 inches at the nut, 2.5 inches at the bridge. The result is a left-hand feel similar to that of a bass guitar while staying large enough at the bridge to maintain articulation with the bow.

For electronics, the bass is fitted with the company’s Polar Pickup system, which features a pizz/arco switch to tailor its tone for plucking or playing with a bow.

The instrument’s volume and tone controls incorporate NS Design’s JackPot potentiometers, which delivers 100% of the instrument’s signal. The NXT Omni comes standard with the Boomerang Strap System with options to use a self-standing tripod or an end pin.

NS Design says the first NXT-Series Omni Basses will be available mid-January, 2013, with street prices around $1,499 for the 4-string version and $1,599 for the 5-string model. For more info, check out the NS Design website.
