Ibanez Announces Talman Bass Series

Ibanez is taking a page out of the old school with their new Talman Bass Series, consisting of the TMB300 and TMB100. The basses, which feature a retro aesthetic, share many of the same features with the 300 having an edge in features.

Ibanez TMB100 Bass

Both models are built with a mahogany body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard. The TMB300’s fingerboard is bound and set with acrylic block inlays while the TMB100 keeps it simple with dot inlays. Each version is fitted with a P/J pickup configuration. The TMB100 has an Ibanez DXP neck pickup and DXJ bridge pickup. The TMB300 has a DXP in the neck as well but steps things up with a DJ2 double J pickup in the bridge position. It also has a split coil switch to provide a single coil option in the bridge.

The Ibanez Talman Series basses are expected to ship in March. The TMB100 will carry a street price of $199 and the TMB300 will retail $299.

I just ordered a TM300 through my local guy. I’ve been looking for a P/J set up for a while, and I like the added versatility of the double jazz pickup, coil split, and bass/Treble cut/boost.

  3. Jakub

Another cheap bass from Ibanez :/ Maby this time some pro basses ?

  4. 300 looks promising for a better, bolder 5-string in the near future(one would hope). All I can say is, you get what you pay for with Ibanez the majority of the time. You never know though, sometimes you can get a “good cut of wood”…

  5. Sorta fugly in my opinion? looks a bit like some of the reverend basses, which are also, imo, someone who took the least pretty parts of the 60’ies and tried making a bass out of it…
