Elixir Revamps Bass Strings

Elixir Nanoweb Bass Strings

After getting feedback from over a thousand bass players, Elixir Strings has announced they’ve revamped their Nanoweb coated bass strings. “We recently decided to broaden our range in both Nickel Plated and Stainless Steel Strings,” says application engineer Justin Fogelman. “New and refined gauges and single strings give bassists a tool to find what really works well for them.”

The company’s entire range of round wound bass strings has a refined Nanoweb coating that they say provides greater durability and response during hard-hitting attacks. They’ve also expanded their bass string gauge offerings to include a Nickel Plated Steel 5-String set in Light/Medium as well as a Stainless Steel 4-string set in Medium and a 5-string set in Light/Medium. The lineup’s Nickel Plated Steel 5-string Light set has been adjusted to .045, .065, .085, .105 and .130 gauges. Further, Elixir is now offering both NPS and Stainless 5th and 6th single strings for customizing your set.

Elixir Nanoweb Bass Strings are available now with sets ranging from $31.02 to $39.99, while individual 5th and 6th strings go for $6.49 and $9.99, respectively.

  1. Nice I need less zip noise from fingerprints.
Zip noise while changing strings is annoying.

      try improve you technique, mark.

I think he meant ground noise. Elxir has bridge connectivity issue because of its coating.

  2. I wonder if they did something about the “I bought your bronze acoustic bass strings with claims of prolonged life and after about 10 days of playing the nanoweb coating came off in pom-pom like fringes which rendered the strings useless.” That I’d find really helpful.
