Orlando le Fleming Teaches New Technique in “Polymuting for Bass Guitar”
Bassist and educator Orlando le Fleming has produced another instructional book for 2020 called Polymuting for Bass Guitar. It covers his specific funk muting technique, which he utilizes heavily with his band Romantic Funk and with Wayne Krantz. Le Fleming lays out the technique over 32 exercises complete with notation and tab as well as video examples.
“With a brand new notation system the 32 Exercises take you step but step through the polymuting technique, strengthening your rhythm at the same time,” he writes. “These exercises culminate in a Funk Etude, 2 bass transcriptions from ‘The Unfamiliar’ plus sheet music for all the songs.”
Polymuting for Bass Guitar is available now as an eBook and video download through the bassist’s website for $30.
Le Fleming is a great player on both electric and double basses. And his approach to teaching is very interesting.
