Eastwood Unveils the Hooky Viking Bass PRO

Eastwood teamed up with Joy Division/New Order bassist Peter Hook to launch the Hooky Bass 6 PRO back in early 2020, and now they’re introducing a four-string model. The Eastwood Hooky Viking Bass PRO marks the first ever production run of his iconic semi-acoustic bass created by luthier Chris Eccleshall.
“With access to Hooky’s original for detailed research and pain-staking accuracy, we replicated it and created a prototype in 2022 and we then took this model into production to create the first commercially available version of his 4 string, full scale length, semi acoustic bass,” the company wrote.
Available in Dark Cherry or Black finishes, the bass is crafted with a maple top and mahogany for the back and sides. Its maple neck is fitted with an ebony fingerboard holding 22 frets. A split coil pickup is situated near the bridge and has plenty of controls. There’s an active/passive switch for engaging or disengaging a 3-band EQ while passive mode has volume and tone knobs.
You can hear the bass in several capacities in this demo from Desmond Doom:
The initial batch of the Eastwood Hooky Viking PRO has already sold out. Pre-orders are open for batch two, which will ship this fall. The bass has a direct price of $1,499.
