NAMM 2025: Frank Bello Joins Spector with NC-4, Doug Wimbish Model Gets an Upgrade

Spector Doug Wimbish Euro 4 Signature and NC-4 Frank Bello Signature Basses

After announcing a reunion with Rex Brown late last year, it looks like Spector is putting some extra focus on their Artist Series. The brand has unveiled their new instruments for NAMM 2025, including two additions of signature basses: the revamped Doug Wimbish Euro 4 and the brand new NC-4 Frank Bello.

Spector Doug Wimbish Euro 4 Signature Bass

The Wimbish bass has been refined to follow 2024’s USA Signature model. This new Euro 4 version is similar in that it takes its specs directly from the Living Colour bassist’s 1987 NS-2 bass. Namely that includes a slim neck carve with a narrow nut width and custom-wound EMG pickups in a unique placement. Other features include maple body wings, a figured maple top, and a Spector Legacy Preamp.

“My Doug Wimbish Euro 4 Signature Model is absolutely stunning—visually, sonically, and with the feel of my original ’87 NS-2 Spector 4-String,” Wimbish shares. “The stars aligned on this model—everything came together. It shapes your sound beautifully, and I couldn’t be happier.”

The Wimbish Euro 4 will come in Amber Stain and Black stain finishes, plus a limited-edition aged finish inspired by Doug’s original instrument wear.

Spector NC-4 Frank Bello Signature Bass

The Spector NC-4 Frank Bello Signature bass marks the first collaboration between the Anthrax bassist and the company. The result is an all new instrument that the company says is inspired “by both Spector’s rich history and iconic American bolt-on bass design.” It’s built with an alder body, one-piece maple neck, and a maple fingerboard that’s inlaid with purple acrylic blocks. The matching metallic purple finish is called the Tina Rose in honor of Bello’s mother and grandmother.

The NC-4 also features Bello’s signature EMG P/J pickups with a simple volume and tone control configuration.

“I am so psyched to join the Spector family, a place that already feels like home to me! The great people at Spector listened and contributed to every detail that I was looking for in a bass, and I am truly so excited for everybody to see what we’ve come up with,” Bello states. “It was great to have the opportunity to bring some Spector basses on tour to give them a test run, and I can honestly say they checked all the boxes, and then some.”

Prices for the Doug Wimbish Euro 4 and the NC-4 Frank Bello aren’t available yet, but Spector expects them to be shipping this spring.
