Sandberg Guitars has announced a new limited edition model to their California Grand Dark series, which was introduced three years ago. The new bass is limited to 40 pieces and comes in a high-gloss orange finish.

I love checking out all the basses people post on Instagram, but this one made me stop scrolling. This Alchemist 4/32 by Owl Bass Guitars first caught my eye with its killer claro walnut top.

Payson Bass has been making strings designed for multi-scale basses for several years. Now, after two years of prototyping, they’ve announced the Payson Fanned SuperCharger series of basses is ready.

R. Low Vaughn Instruments has introduced a new budget model that’s made in the United States. The Panzer series is made by luthier Rob Vaughn in his Boise, Idaho shop with set features to streamline the process and reduce cost.

This week we have two basses of the week, although they are the mirror reflection of each other. Hayden Lassila of Lassila Guitars calls the model the Antipode. With one right-handed and one left-handed version, the bass lives up to its name.

Luthier Eric Doucet of Cosmic Woodworking posted some photos of his latest build in the No Treble Facebook group, and people took notice. The Jupiter bass has a lot going for it, but the choice of woods is a knockout.

Fender has unveiled a new limited edition Lightweight Ash American Professional line of instruments. The series includes a Strat, a Telecaster, and, most importantly, a Jazz Bass. Each model is built with a lightweight ash body while retaining most features from their American Professional counterpart.

Back in January, we featured a unique instrument by Doner Designs as our bass of the week. Now the Time Machine bass is up for sale as part of a charity to benefit Parkinson’s Disease research.

This week we’re checking out the Mammoth bass from Atelier Kraken. “Tentacle-crafted” in France by luthier Guillaume “Muche” Buguet and Vincent Clerc, the stunning bass has aluminum inlays along its ash body including a detailed engraving of the Kraken that extends over the neck pickup.

Dingwall has just released a new limited edition bass they call “the bass from Hell.” The company partnered with Darkglass Electronics, Dark Horse Comics, and Rob van der Loo from Epica to create the D-Roc Rob van der Loo “Hellboy” 5-string bass.

Adding to their Artisan series of basses, Cort has unveiled the B4 Plus AS RM bass, a four-string that incorporates four tonal woods and three finishes: Open Pore Aqua Blue, Open Pore Trans Black, and Open Pore Burgundy Red.

Ernie Ball Music Man has revealed the April 2019 offering of their Ball Family Reserve series, which allows for creating rare pieces with figured tone woods and finer finishes.
