I’ve always been fascinated by the old lucite basses from the ’70s, so when Serek Basses unveiled a trio of lucite instruments, my interest was piqued. Here’s the Lucite Lincoln.

BL Design shared one of their recent builds and it stopped me in my tracks. This Caracal 5 is a five-string bass with a 35-inch scale and an incredible crotch walnut top.

This week we’re checking out the Orfeo H5 from Indonesia’s Odieng. The headless bass has a jaw-dropping top made from Grupel Burl, which comes from a tree native to Indonesia.

This week we’re checking out another beautiful instrument by Monkey Bassness. Bass No. 22 has a gorgeous “Red Dragon Blood” dye on its body.

Austria’s 13 Custom Instruments recently completed a gorgeous bass they dubbed the Alex 4, which caught my attention.

In Kazakhstan, they have a lute-style instrument called the dombyra. There is a very large bass version of the instrument, but it’s often troublesome, so Adil Sabit created a solution with the ASG DB340 Dombyra Bass.

Dingwall’s basses are always eye-catching, but this Z model is on another level. The company shared the bass on Facebook writing, “Legend has it that if you play the forbidden riff on this Dingwall Z in Blood Moon Orange Reverseburst, you may turn into a werewolf!”

Lawalin Guitars’s latest build takes his Guit-Fiddle body shape and applies it to a super short scale four-string. The violin-styled, single cut body and its fretboard are composite with a Southwest swirl design.

This week, we’re checking out a killer bass put together by Novacorda Guitars. The bass is made with a new old stock (NOS) Höfner body from 1968 that’s been fitted with a 2-piece flame maple neck with a wenge stripe.

ESP’s custom shop in Tokyo, Japan, unleashed a line of one-of-a-kind instruments crafted by their master luthiers. The lineup included one bass: the OM Bass-6. The bass centers around a seven-piece neck made from maple, walnut, and purpleheart.
