This week we’re checking out a cool retro-fied model from Ferner Fine Instruments called the Aviator Bass. Its unique body shape pays homage to “catalog guitars of the ’60s,” such as Danelectro, Teisco, Greco, Kay, Silvertone, and others.

Carvin Amps and Audio has expanded their resurrected range of products with the UX1200BGT Wireless System. The system is designed for both guitar and bass, as the company points out its wide frequency response range allows for low notes to “come through with defined nuances.”

Ibanez has expanded their flagship SR series of basses with the SRMD200 “Mezzo”. The entry-level model comes in a variety of finishes but sets itself apart with a medium 32-inch scale.

Back in 2017, one of the biggest stories from the NAMM Show was the release of the Tech 21 Geddy Lee Signature SansAmp GED-2112 preamp. Tech 21 is turning heads again this year with the introduction of the Geddy Lee Signature SansAmp YYZ Pedal.

S.I.T. Strings has expanded their Foundations line of bass strings with several new 6-string sets. Manufactured in Ohio, the strings are built with a core material they say makes them flexible and bright.

It’s been 20 years since Ibanez introduced a signature model from bass guru Gary Willis, and they’re celebrating with an anniversary edition.

Seeing a “violin” bass is fairly common, but Byron Isaacs decided to go a different direction and dreamed up a bass mixed with a mandolin. He approached luthier Harvey Citron to make it a reality. The result: the Byron "F" Style Bass.

Rocket Surgeon has unveiled their latest creation for bass with the Starlifter Bass Preamp and DI. Built in a pedal format, the box offers a three-band EQ with sweepable mids as well as a three-way contour switch that offers flat, vintage, and modern settings.

New for 2019, Fodera has introduced the Select Series. The lineup blends characteristics of their custom instruments as well as their standard instruments to create a middle ground. They’re opening the new range starting with the Monarch 4 Select and Emperor 5 Select.

Luthier Alan Cringean has introduced a new bass to his AC Guitars line that’s based on a model from his other brand, Reiver Guitars. The Krell Kompakt is a 32-inch scale bass with a new body shape.

Collision Devices is a new boutique pedal company out of France. They’re launching their brand with their first pedal called the Black Hole Symmetry, which they call a “Modulation Delay/Space Reverb/Destruction Fuzz.”
