Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumours” is the first record I remember loving, and my favorite tracks were the ones Christine McVie wrote. I was devastated to hear of her passing on Wednesday. Here’s the band in 1977 performing McVie’s “You Make Loving Fun.”

We can always count on Rick Suchow to deliver the goods. In honor of Jaco Pastorius’s birthday today, Rick has made available a clip he recorded of Jaco’s quintet performing “Invitation” at Seventh Avenue South in April 1981. The lineup included Michael Brecker and Peter Erskine.

Brandon Shaw has a cool YouTube channel called Digging The Greats, and he just shared a fun video for bassists. He plays through eight songs that make for good lines for soundcheck, including deeper cuts.

Back in the 80s, I listened to a lot of Biréli Lagrène’s music. I was always blown away by his guitar skills and learned years later that he has some serious chops on bass too. Here’s a clip with Lagrène improvising to “So What” on bass.

Charles Berthoud is back with a new jaw-dropping video, and in this one, he turned “Master of Puppets” into a solo slap bass arrangement.

Lake Street Dive dropped another video from their “Live from The Sultan Room” series, and this time, the band grooves to The Pointer Sisters’ “Automatic.” As always, Bridget Kearney impresses with some funky bass work and backing vocals.

Vulfpeck announced that a new full-length album is coming and released their first single. “Sauna” was co-written by Woody Goss and Jack Stratton and features Joe Dart, Cory Wong, Joey Dosik, Theo Katzman, and Antwaun Stanley.

No Treble reader Eduardo Kusdra sent us another one of his terrific all-bass arrangement videos. This time around, he’s taking on Duran Duran’s hit, “Rio.”

Tedeschi Trucks Band just dropped a video from their performance at Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA. Here’s the band – with Brandon Boone on bass and Mike Mattison on lead vocals – performing a cover of Dr. John’s “I Walk on Guilded Splinters.”

“Run For Cover” is one of those tunes where I reach for the volume knob and crank it to 11, especially during Marcus Miller’s bass solos. Here’s Marcus doing his thing live in Budapest in October.
