Here is one of my favorite videos ever, and I’m thrilled to share this piece of sweet nostalgia! In this classic clip from 1989, Stanley Clarke is seen here with Gregory Hines, on the Arsenio Hall Show.

Giovanni Scarabel shared this video on our Facebook Group, and it got a lot of attention. He took Steve Vai’s “Eugene’s Trick Bag”, from the movie “Crossroads”, and performed it on bass.

We can’t get enough of Marcus Miller. He truly is the total package. In this 2012 clip, Marcus is seen here warming up before a performance in Japan. I’ve always wanted to know what Marcus plays to warm up, and this is perfect.

Scary Pockets are back with another fantastic cover. In this one, the band includes guest vocalist Ty Taylor and MonoNeon laying down the funky lines. Here’s their take on Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud”.

Until now, we’ve only seen a fan-shot video of this master class performance at the 2018 Sligo Jazz. Federico Malaman shared this version of his performance of the Vulfpeck hit “Dean Town”, with Joe Dart.

I always love these behind-the-scenes videos in the studio. In this one, we see pianist Brian Culbertson in the studio with The Yellowjackets rhythm section: Will Kennedy and Jimmy Haslip. This clip is a clinic on drums and bass locking in the pocket.

“Uptown Funk” is one of those songs that gets you moving. That groove is infectious. Here is the isolated bass on the track. Jamareo “Jam” Artis has been one of my favorites since 2009, so this is a treat for me!

After recently discovering the video series featuring Julia Hofer, I’ve been checking out a lot of the entries. In this one, Julia picked her favorite bass lines from Carol Kaye’s massive catalog and played along to the tracks.
