Melissa Petitto emailed me over the weekend to share an exciting new video she’s released. Joined by guitarist Maurizio Solieri and drummer Flaviano Pennisi, the trio performs Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition”.

John Mayer Trio’s “Try” is one of my favorite records in my collection. Pino Palladino is an absolute monster throughout, so it was great to spot this video by EuBasss, who plays along to “Good Love Is On The Way” and shares the transcription.

I’m a huge fan of Indian Fusion, so I was excited to see this video Vivian Severn sent us. In this clip, Gabriel Severn takes on a new challenge with drummer Siddharth Nagarajan, guitarist Durwin D’souza, and percussionist Rhythm Nagi.

A few days ago, The Howard Stern Show shared a video from their vault featuring a 2013 appearance by ZZ Top. The clip starts with some background on “La Grange”, before Dusty Hill and the guys kick in to an extended version of the tune.

Dirty Loops has released their new EP, Phoenix. In celebration, they’ve released another video. “World On Fire” is the fourth track of the five-song album. Henrik Linder takes an incredible solo on this one.

In this video, bassist Federico Malaman teams up virtually with pianist Claudio Filippini and 18-year-old drum prodigy Greyson Nekrutman. The group performs Federico’s original tune, “What?!?”

Rebecca Johnson is back with another funky video with her band, from a 2017 gig at The Co-Op Club in Sydney, Australia. In this one, they take on Jon Cleary & The Absolute Monster Gentlemen’s “Mo Hippa.”

Ryan Madora knows groove. In this video, she covers some tips on constructing a groovy bass line while working with drum loops.

The lockdown has been rough for many of us, but we can count on Leland Sklar to bring some musical goodness during this time. In this one, he covers the story behind - and plays along to - Lyle Lovett’s “Here I Am”.

I somehow missed this 2018 video, but better late than never. In this clip, Ida Nielsen & the funkbots perform “Fake the Funk/Positivity” live at Nuvenue. Funky!

My friend Joshua Sailor shared this video on Facebook recently with a one word comment: “LOCKED”. In this clip, Melvin Lee Davis lays it down on his tune, “O.C.O.E. – Official Cat Of The Eighties”.

Evan Marien and Dana Hawkins are back, and this video changes things up from ones we’ve seen from the duo in the past. Joined by J3PO, “Anybody Else But You” flat out grooves. The song is part of their upcoming album, “Parallels”.
