No Treble reader Rod Wray sent us this video by Tokyo Groove Jyoshi, and their interesting take on Tower of Power’s “What Is Hip?” The band was formed in 2018 by three session musicians: Emi Kanazashi, Juna Serita, and Yuriko Seki.

WATCH: Davie504 has shared a number of videos with Charles Berthoud, who Davie calls “The PRO.” In this clip, the bassists trade off with some impressive bass playing, covering fingerstyle, tap, slap, all techniques – and some funny moments along the way.

I was thrilled to find this 2010 video by the trio of Sebastiaan Cornelissen, Frans Vollink, and Rob van Bavel covering one of Jaco Pastorius’s early years tunes. “Amelia” was written by Jaco while touring with Wayne Cochran & The C.C. Riders.

YYNOT has been wowing fans with live concerts, including this stop in Salt Lake City at the Metro Music Hall. They just shared this clip of them performing Rush’s “YYZ” at the show, which once again shows off the amazing chops of Tim Starace and the band.

Earlier this year, guitarists Martin Miller and Andy Timmons released this incredible cover of Mike Stern’s “Chromazone.” Once again, Benni Jud handles the low end with the band, who absolutely nails this tune.

Leonid & Friends, the great Chicago (and more) cover band started by Leonid Vorobyev, is back. In this clip, the band takes on the 1972 release “Dialogue (Part I & II)” from “Chicago V.”

Brian Bromberg took his Unapologetically Funky Big Bombastic Band to the 2019 Berks Jazz Festival. One of the tunes, “Minneapolis, 1987” has since gotten a lot of attention (with over 1 million views).

Kinga Glyk is releasing a new album on November 1st. By the sounds of the first track she’s shared from “Feelings,” it is going to be a great record. Dig the vibe on “Joy Joy.”

Theo Katzman has a new album coming. “Modern Johnny Sings: Songs in the Age of Vibe” will once again feature his Vulfpeck bandmate, Joe Dart. Here’s an early preview of the album, with the video for “You Could Be President.”

Bassist Joshua Young and drummer Ben Kersh recently shared this video, which knocked me out. “Our bass and drums cover of this classic standard!” they shared. Joshua displays some amazing technique on this one.
