Argentinian bassist Ezequiel Gimenez shared this video of him performing one of his solo bass compositions, in preparation of his upcoming solo EP. The tune is called “Play”. Have a video to share with us? Send it to [email protected].

After laying a perfect background for guitarist Scott Henderson, bassist Gary Willis rips an amazing solo of his own during this performance in Israel for television. Though the progressive fusion band dissolved after 2000’s Rocket Science, Henderson revealed earlier this year that he and Willis have worked out nearly 30 tunes for a new album.

Here’s a cool video for the title track to Randy Coven’s album NU School. Ironically, the tune is laden with classical elements and some pretty intense technique by the bassist, who has toured with Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai and many more.

Slovakian bassist Juraj Griglak absolutely kills it in this clip for what appears to be a random passer-by in a Tokyo guitar shop. Check out Griglak’s serious case of bass face at 0:59.

After focusing on jazz in his career, Argentinian bassist Willy González turned to traditional Latin American songs of folk lore and formed a duo with vocalist Micaela Vita. González fills in for a whole band by utilizing chordal strumming and percussive attacks while Vita pours her soul into the song, which translates to “Dancer of the Mountains.”

We’re firm believers that two basses are better than one. Here’s a cool example from the DVD Casiopea vs. The Square, where the two Japanese fusion bands perform alongside each other. This song, “Eccentric Games,” features an awesome bass battle between Casiopea’s Yoshihiro Naruse and The Square’s Mitsuru Sutoh.
