I stumbled upon this cool documentary style clip of Juan Nelson recently, where he discusses his early (and funny) musical years and his break from working with Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals. He even plays a little upright. Anyone know if this is part of a larger project?

This guy who goes by the alias of “Golfybass” seems to be only wearing a pair of boxers in the following video of him performing his song Moving Average on a piccolo-strung bass. I apologize for that, but I promise that the video will be worth it!

Jon Reshard, who is the current bassist for Greg Howe, first caught my attention on the Gospelchops Bass DVD, where he did a cool medley of a few songs he had arranged for bass. In the medley was parts of Billy Joel’s “She’s Always A Woman”:

Here’s Richard Bona, performing his tune, “Te Misea (A Scream To Save The Planet)” live on France 3 TV. The performance took place in March 2008. “Te Misea” is from Bona’s 2001 release, Reverence.

The following video was brought to my attention by a friend of mine, Linda Palmer. The Lars Danielsson Trio features Leszek Mo?d?er on the piano, Xavier Desandre Navarre on drums and Lars Danielsson on the double bass. In this video they’re performing their tune “Pasodoble”.

Here’s Whitesnake/Lyrics Born bassist, Uriah Duffy, working on a bass arrangement of Michael Jackson’s song “Human Nature”. Evidently, this isn’t the finished version, but it sounds great so far!

Here’s a classic clip of The Who performing on September 15, 1967 on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. The Pat Metheny Group did a tune on their first album, (1978), named after Jaco Pastorius. This is an early version of the song from 1977 and features Mark Egan on the fretless bass.

This video features Stanley Clarke playing one of my favorite tunes of his, “Wild Dog”. Armand Sabal-Lecco backs Stanley up in this video, which was filmed at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 2004.

Our Facebook friend and bassist Chris Tiger Ellis posted a video over the weekend of his take on the Jaco Pastorius/Weather Report tune “Teen Town”. “I just wanted to play Teen Town,” Ellis said. “I used my bridge pickup with my trebles all the way down. I put my little twist on it too but I hope you enjoy it.”...
