Geddy Lee’s Solo Album, “My Favourite Headache,” To Be Re-Released on Vinyl

Geddy Lee: My Favourite Headache Vinyl 2 LP Rerelease

Geddy Lee released a whopping 19 studio albums with Rush, but he only had one solo album. My Favourite Headache was released in 2000 during the iconic prog-rock trio’s four-year hiatus following tragedies in drummer Neil Peart’s life. It was rereleased on vinyl in 2019 as a limited edition Record Store Day Exclusive, and now it’s being pressed again.

The 2-LP album will be released through Rush’s Backstage Club in a special blue and green galaxy vinyl. Sides A, B, and C will contain the original tracks while Side D will have instrumental takes of “My Favorite Headache” and “Home on the Strange.”

“I think I backed into this project,” Lee reflected. “I’ve never had a great desire to make an individual statement, and I certainly didn’t want any more attention. I satisfy so much of my musical self in the context of Rush, so I don’t have any great frustrations from that point of view. But once in a while you’d wonder, ‘What’s it like out there? What’s it like to work with other people?'”

My Favourite Headache will also be available through Rush Backstage on CD.

More of Lee’s solo material came to light with the release of the audiobook version of his memoir, My Effin’ Life. “Gone” and “I Am… You Are” were eventually released as an EP called The Lost Demos, as they were taken from the writing sessions for My Favourite Headache.

My Favourite Headache is open to pre-order through Rush Backstage and will be shipping on August 9th.
