Empress Effects Announces the Buffer++: A Powerful Upgrade for Complex Signal Chains

Empress Effects has unveiled the Buffer++, which they call “the next evolution of one of the most trusted utility pedals ever to hit a pedalboard.” The device is built for musicians who have intricate signal paths, allowing you to toggle between inputs, switch amps, reorder loops, and more.
“Building on Empress’ legacy of transparent, low-noise buffers, the Buffer++ pushes far beyond simple tone preservation,” Empress explains. “Switch between guitar and synth, convert stereo rigs to mono, or dial in warm, vintage tones — all without touching a single cable.”
The Buffer++ has a total of 12 internal routing modes: Independent (Stereo) Loops, Summed Loops, Loop In 1 Only, Independent/Summed Loop Ins Combination, Loop Select, Loop Sum Select, Momentary Loop Siwthcing, Momentary Loop Sum, Instrument Select – Mono Loops, Instrument Select – Summed Loops, Instrument Select – Independent (Stereo) Loops, and Instrument Select – Separate Rigs, Shared Effects. We suggest checking the Empress website for details on each routing mode’s benefits.
Each input has a pad for balancing volumes, and central to the pedal’s design is a footswitchable boost that offers up to 30dB of gain. Other features include AB/AY switching options, variable input loading for tone shaping, and a stereo effects loop with noise filtering.
The first run of the Buffer++ is on sale now for $299. After the first batch, it will rise to $399.
