Flea Joins Gorillaz Mastermind Damon Albarn For New Project
Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea has teamed up with Gorillaz mastermind Damon Albarn on yet another supergroup. Albarn reports that the band also includes Afrobeat drumming master Tony Allen and some of his “favorite African musicians will be involved also.”
They are mostly done recording an album, though they still don’t have a name.
“Flea of course is an anagram for Fela [Kuti], and Flea is so into this music—so that’s been great,” Albarn said.
Flea is also working on the new Red Hot Chili Peppers album, which the band hopes to unveil in the beginning of summer 2011. Flea is reportedly taking a larger role in songwriting, as he is coming to the table with “really cool ideas for the piano,” as well as his signature bass playing.
