Squier Introduces Chris Aiken Signature Precision Bass

Squier Chris Aiken Signature Precision Bass

Squier has introduced the Chris Aiken Signature Precision Bass, which the Strung Out bassist helped design.

“I decided to make something that’s really cool, that I like to play,” said Aiken. “But, also something I want to give to the fans of Strung Out and any average bass player that wants to buy a bass – something that’s simple, practical and plays awesome.”

Finished in white, the bass has a mirrored acrylic pickguard and white binding and pearloid block inlays in the 20-fret maple fingerboard. The pickup is a Duncan Designed PB-105 which is controlled with a single volume knob. Aiken’s signature and Strung Out’s “Astrolux” logo are on the headstock.

The Squier Chris Aiken Signature Precision Bass will be available with an MSRP of $499.99. For more info, check out the Squier website.

  1. Hi, we’re Fender… and if you’re in a band, and you play a P bass, we will make you a signature model. ANYBODY. Jesus. Fender and Squier have more signature models than I have hairs on my head. There’s so little variation between most of these models. What’s the point.

  2. I cant wait to buy it on sale and keep the neck for a project and sell the body.

  3. Would you take it as a compliment if they make you a sigature bass in their cheap series? Or would it rather be an insult. “Hey man, we named a bass after you. Look it’s our cheapest model” you feel happy now?

  4. Hooray! ANOTHER lousey p-bass!

  5. can we get a reissue of the original Fender V?

  6. Gipson Sg, redwood style was my 1st bass at 13yrs old…..i’ve never had a more powerful sounding bass since! I wonder what this Eb sounds like……hmmmmmmmm.

  7. Squiers are great basses if your on a budget. They have the classic fender looks and sound, and I love the neck on that bass. Ill probably pick up a neck on ebay or something in the future. I don’t think id get the bass itself. Its nice but id much rather spend my money on something more desirable.

  8. Nice looking , but I don’t like the sound…on the demo it’s so agressive and with no relief and deepness… it’s missing a tone control anyway..

  9. I am trying to decide to go with this and then modify to my liking. Seriously though (and I agree with the comments here) The neck looks great….I want a P-Bass (cheap if possible) but being a Jazz guy, I would see myself self routing a cavity for a Jazz bridge pup and then putting Basslines on this thing. That is my dilemma, buy this thing and then mod the hell out of it…or simply by a true P-Bass (Fender Brand) and find a pearloid neck (rare of course) on ebay and slap it on. Like I said, I want a P-Bass to supplement my Jazz collection, but not going to spend an arm and a leg for something used occasionally. ahhh decisions

  10. I bought this about 18 months ago. And so loved it I bought a second one, as a backup.

Pickups are “hot” (loud); a maple board and white inlays – seriously: is there anything sexier?

And no tone knob: if you can’t get the tone you want from moving your plucking hand to and from the bridge then give up. Worst case: your amp has a bass, mid and treble set, right?

Great bass, built like a tank. Love it.
