Ampeg Reintroduces V-4B All-Tube Bass Amplifier

Ampeg has reintroduce the V-4B, a 100-watt all-tube bass amp. Based on the company’s classic amp from the ’70s, the new head is described as offering the tone of an SVT while weighing half as much.

Ampeg V-4B All-Tube Bass Amplifier Head

The new V-4B’s preamp includes a pair of 12AX7 tubes while the driver has a 12AX7 and one 12AU7, and its power amp contains four JJ 6L6GC tubes. Building upon an innovation from the original V-4B, the new head has a special floating suspension chassis that’s rubber mounted to isolate vibrations to the amp’s tubes. The circuit has a 3-band EQ that includes a 3-position mid-range control to toggle the midrange knob to control 220Hz, 800 Hz, or 3000Hz. Ultra-Hi and Ultra-Lo boosts offer further tonal shaping.

The back of the V-4B offers a Preamp Out, a Power Amp In, a Slave Out, and a balanced XLR output. The speaker outputs has separate 8, 4, and 2-ohm outputs for different cabinet combinations.

The Ampeg V-4B will be shipping later this month with a street price of $1,299. For more info, check out the Ampeg website.

  1. ESTA LINDO , LO MALO ES KE ESOS AMPLIS EN MEXICO NO DURAN , EL SERVICIO ELECTRICO ES DE LOS PEORES DEL MUNDO.

  2. –would be cheaper to buy an original, have it retubed and biased, and rock out. For the left over money one could pick up a used 4 x 10 HLF cab and have a classic setup. Just sayin’…

  3. Where is it made? Vietnam? China?

  4. Biscoito fino hem! Ampeg é a melhor!
