ESP Unveils Stream Bass Series

The ESP Original Series Stream bass is handbuilt in Japan alongside the company’s custom shop instruments. It’s built with a white ash body, a 7-piece maple/walnut/padauk neck, and a rosewood fingerboard. Each bass is fitted with a Hipshot “A” Style bridge and Hipshot tuners. The pickups are an EMG 35P-4 in the neck position and an EMG 35J in the bridge position, while the electronics include an EMG BTC 2-band EQ. 1. So damn pretty but….3899$ for a production model with no options? Are you kiddin’ me? For that price I can get a really custom made bass, with my body shape, wood , hardware and electronics choices..

  2. wth xD this isnt new its been available in japan for quite a long time (: and Alex ESP’s luthiers are some of the top luthiers in japan, youre paying for the quality of the work, which to my mind is fair. if you’d look at the ESP factory you’d know you’re getting the same amount of work into the basses that custom luthiers do, and quite possibly at a higher level than most luthiers (the ESP luthier training program is extremely stringent), so i feel the price is fair. after all you pay for the worktime involved really.

Besides… a lot of very famous brands dont have any problems selling basses at a lot higher prices. Gibson, Fender etc. and tbh ESP’s quality is around Fender Custom (maybe even better), and quite possibly above anything Gibson can make.

  3. only thing i find strange; gotoh tuners are (IMO) better than hipshot tuners, i find it a bit strange to see them using hipshot on the more expensive model o.o might be because of brand recognition on the american market?

  4. As lovely as these are, every time I look at the blue one, I can’t get the image of the denim textured bass Sandberg did out of my head! Well at least they can get an endorsement from Van Damme!
