Ibanez Terra Firma Bass Gets Maple Fretboard

After introducing the model last year, Ibanez is now offering the Terra Firma model in 5- and 6-string models with maple fretboards. The single-cut BTB model is part of the company’s experimental “Bass Workshop” series and has several features typically found on boutique basses.

Its neck-through design includes a five-piece maple and bubinga neck with ash body wings topped by rosewood. The upper horn extends to create constant contact between the neck and body all the way up to the 12th fret to provide increased stability and sustain. The neck also has deep sculpting to contour into the body for easier position shifting and access to the upper register. Other features include a pair of Bartolini BH1 pickups, an EBQ-IIIs 3-band EQ with mid-frequency switch, and a Mono-Rail bridge.

The Ibanez BTB685MSC and BTB686MSC Terra Firma basses are available now for $949 and $999, respectively.

I would love to read a review of the 5-string

  2. Marc

Tried looking for it on the Ibanez website. It isn’t there yet.

  3. Am I the only one that thinks that having the top horn attached to the neck looks REALLY ugly?

  4. mike hudson

I have the six string and its play well sounds amazing just did major gig a lot comments from other bassist and the sound crew

  5. It’s 17mm spacing not 19mm on the bridge

  6. Ken

    Isn’t the 5 string B, E, A, D, G? rather than 1C,2G,3D,4A,5E? The one I ordered is B-G not E-C.
