Jaco Documentary and Soundtrack Get November Release Date

Jaco Pastorius Record Store Day PosterMetallica bassist Robert Trujillo’s documentary about legendary bassist Jaco Pastorius, “JACO,” has a release date — Nov. 27. The film will be available as video on demand, streaming, as a digital download, and on DVD/Blu-ray.

The film’s soundtrack, Jaco: Original Soundtrack will be released on the same day, which is Record Store Day and Black Friday. Trujillo, a longtime Pastorius fan who executive produced the film, will celebrate the release at The Sound Garden in Syracuse, New York.

The movie tracks the short, brilliant career, tragic death at the age of 35, and legacy of Pastorius, who redefined the role of the electric bass through his work in Weather Report, with other artists like Joni Mitchell and Ian Hunter, and solo. It tells his story with never-before-seen film footage, photos, audio recordings and interviews with musicians deeply affected and influenced by his music, including Mitchell, Sting, Herbie Hancock, Geddy Lee, Boosty Collins, Carlos Santana and Wayne Shorter.

Get an insight into the film’s development through SXSW ON’s Studio SX interview with Trujillo, the film’s co-director Paul Marchand, and Jaco’s son John Pastorius (also an executive producer of the film).

l’evoluzione del basso ha le proprie radici dalle mani e la mente di Jaco Pastorius, nonostante affetto di bipolarismo ,ma ha dato un enorme contributo alla musica jazz e punk jazz
