2018 Reader Favorite Bassists – #2: Joe Dart
When we shared the first Vulfpeck video in June 2011, no one seemed to know the name Joe Dart. When Joe first hit the top 10 reader favorite bassist lists in 2013, we weren’t surprised. Then he did it again in 2016 and 2017. As long as he keeps doing what he’s doing, we expect to see him making the list for years to come.
Unlike past years, where Joe made the list simply for his work with Vulfpeck, 2018 was different. He was part of a new band, The Fearless Flyers, who released an album and videos, and he also made an appearance and toured with Vulfpeck bandmate Theo Katzman for Theo’s solo effort.
It all added to a ton of views – and placing Joe at #2 for this year’s list.

Theo Katzman with Joe Dart: Crappy Love Song
Back in 2017, I caught Theo Katzman’s concert at Jammin Java in Vienna, VA. What I didn’t know (until the band walked on stage), was that his Vulfpeck bandmate Joe Dart was joining him on the tour. Here’s a clip of them performing “Crappy Love Song”…
The Fearless Flyers: Signed, Sealed, Delivered
The Fearless Flyers shared this video in June, and this one is high octane! Joined by guests Blake Mills on slide guitar and Sandra Crouch on tambourine, the band rips through Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered”…
