In Memoriam: Derrick McIntyre

We have sad news to report today as bassist Derrick McIntyre, who played with Jamiroquai, Roy Ayers, and others, has died after an automobile accident. He was 66 years old. The news was shared by his family as well as Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay, who paid tribute to McIntyre.
“It is with great sorrow that I hear the sad news of Derrick McIntyre’s passing,” he wrote. “He was a joy to work with and a superbly talented musician. My thoughts are with his family, friends and fellow musicians who worked with him. Thinking of you at the great gig in the sky Derrick.”
McIntyre contributed to the Jamiroquai album Dynamite, which scored hits with “Feels Just Like It Should” and “Seven Days in Sunny June.” Other career highlights include work with Cliff Richard, Emeli Sandé, Will Young, Beverley Knight, and more.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Derrick McIntyre.
