This one was captured live at the Capitol Theatre and it feels every bit like a band settling into a room they know well. Erick Coomes settles in on bass and lets the groove do the talking as Lettuce leans into a mix of jazz R&B with a clear reggae sway underneath it all.
He is playing a Fender Jazz Bass through an Aguilar rig and the combination just works. The tone is warm round and steady with a lot of sub. You can hear how comfortable he is sitting right in the pocket. The reggae influence shows up in the later half when they slow the groove down.
He is listening locking in and making the song feel right. It is solid bass playing and the groove is better for it.
