I got to catch bassist Remco Hendrix playing a the Duvoisin booth at NAMM, and it led me to check out more of the company’s instruments. This week we’re looking at their Fat Standard Bass “Satin Prince of Olivewood,” which was part of a limited run of instruments featuring olive tops.

Sadowsky was on hand at the 2019 Winter NAMM Show to unveil their new Spruce Core Single Cut bass. As the name says, the instrument’s design is based around a body core of spruce that is paired with a hardwood top and back.

If you’re a fan of the game League of Legends, you may be familiar with Pentakill Yorick, the undead heavy metal band member that wields a bass to fight his enemies. Luthier Yvan Monfette was inspired to create Yorick’s weapon in real life, complete with a sharp looking body and skull headstock.

Jackson Guitars announced the new JS Series Spectra line of basses at the 2019 Winter NAMM Show. Each of the basses feature a new offset poplar Spectra body shape that has a large upper horn for evenly distributing weight.

Wilkins Custom Guitars & Finishes unveiled their new “Marlin” bass model at the 2019 Winter NAMM Show. Available in four and five-string versions, the Marlin is a medium 32-inch scale bass in their RoadTested series.

Luthier Scott French combined his SF2 and SF3 models to create the SF4, featuring a singlecut body with a deep cutaway for reaching the highest notes. This particular SF4, which he built for Ian Hill, is a great example of the design with gorgeous woods to accent its features.

Warwick showed off their annual limited edition bass at the 2019 Winter NAMM Show. This year the company unveiled the Corvette $$ LTD 2019 in a neckthrough version in their Masterbuilt Custom Shop line and a bolt-on version in their Teambuilt Pro Series.

This week we’re checking out a cool retro-fied model from Ferner Fine Instruments called the Aviator Bass. Its unique body shape pays homage to “catalog guitars of the ’60s,” such as Danelectro, Teisco, Greco, Kay, Silvertone, and others.

Ibanez has expanded their flagship SR series of basses with the SRMD200 “Mezzo”. The entry-level model comes in a variety of finishes but sets itself apart with a medium 32-inch scale.

New for 2019, Fodera has introduced the Select Series. The lineup blends characteristics of their custom instruments as well as their standard instruments to create a middle ground. They’re opening the new range starting with the Monarch 4 Select and Emperor 5 Select.

Luthier Alan Cringean has introduced a new bass to his AC Guitars line that’s based on a model from his other brand, Reiver Guitars. The Krell Kompakt is a 32-inch scale bass with a new body shape.

Doner Designs always comes up with awesome basses for a good cause, and it looks like this one will need an amp rated at 1.21 gigawatts. The “Time Machine” was inspired by the “Back to the Future” movies and benefits the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
