I’m still in recovery mode from NAMM this year, but I’ve been checking out all the great videos pouring in from the show. Here’s a crazy fast version of “Cherokee” by Hadrien Feraud and Federico Malaman at the Ken Smith booth. The duo trade solos at break-neck speeds, each more intense than the last. Hold on tight.

Federico Malaman just nails these all bass covers. Here’s a new one from him, performing his take on Stevie Wonder’s “Do I Do”. Federico is playing his Laurus bass through an MXR M82 Bass Envelope Filter and a Boss RC3 Loop Station.

As far as rearranging pop hits goes, I know that for some people, the arrangements by Dirty Loops can get a bit too quirky (not saying that’s us though!) If you are one of those people, this may be for you. Here’s POP on TOP playing bassist Federico Malaman’s rearrangement of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep”.

During the 2010 EuroBassDay, Federico Malaman – armed with a Laurus bass and a looper – showcased his solo bass skills at the Tecamp and Laurus booth. Federico took Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and made it his own great all-bass performance.

Once again, we have proof that all you really need is bass. (Well, maybe with a little help from Andrew Fisenden, who is doing some nifty percussion work.) Bassist Federico Malaman pays tribute to Michael Jackson with a live version of the King of Pop’s “Speed Demon.” The song’s title rings true for the blazing lick that Malaman pulls off throughout the clip, starting at the 0:27 mark. You might recognize this bass by Laurus. The Laurus T900-XR was our bass of the week earlier this month.

While checking out the booths at NAMM, we stumbled upon Jon Smith and Federico Malaman jamming on a couple of Ken Smith basses. Here they treated us to a funky duet of the tune “Footprints.”
