Session bassist and author Dan Hawkins has just released a new instructional book. “100 Funk Grooves for Electric Bass” is an 88-page book that dives into the style with a focus on techniques, essential scales, and the groove styles of funk players.

In 1994, Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau, Brian Blade, and Christian McBride recorded “MoodSwing.” Now the quartet is back with a new album called “RoundAgain.” While their first recording was phenomenal, they’ve only gotten better over the ensuing 26 years.
