Here’s a great clip from the Crossroads Festival in 2010, which kicks off with Jeff Beck performing with Rhonda Smith on bass. The video closes out Buddy Guy performing “Five Long Years” with Jonny Lang, Ronnie Wood, and Orlando Wright.

Orlando le Fleming sent us his latest video, which is an amazing rendition of the jazz standard “What’s New?” performed with his group Romantic Funk. Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin joined the band as guest vocalist.

Bassist, producer, and songwriter Joshua Crumbly is gearing up to drop his second full-length solo album, entitled “ForEver”. Today, we’re proud to help premiere the song “C.S.C” from the album.

NPR shared this Tiny Desk (Home) Concert video back in June, and I am digging the sound. Bassist Cedric Martel grooves on this one.

KEXP is always a great source for musical discovery. This one hit my list this morning, with the band Flyying Colours performing “White Knuckles” live for KEXP at Home. Bassist Melanie Barbaro lays down the foundation.

Ismael Alcina sent in his latest video, which is a bass arrangement for Paco de Lucia’s “Casilda”. The song, which was released on the 1987 album “Siroco”, originally had no bass part. Here, Alcina adds a wonderful complementary bass line.

Sax legend Gerald Albright sat in with The Cannonball Band to perform Pee Wee Ellis’s tune, “The Chicken”, as popularized by Jaco Pastorius. Bassist Denson Angulo lays down the groove on his fretless on this one.

Here’s a great clip of Christian McBride and Carl Allen discussing the keys to dominating the quicker, fast pace of jazz playing on the bass and drums. Christian includes some wisdom from the great Ray Brown. Then the duo shows how it is done.

Cory Wong and Dirty Loops have followed up their video for “Follow the Light” with the next one from their collaborative record, “Turbo”, which drops tomorrow. In this one, they perform their arrangement of Michael Jackson’s hit tune, “Thriller”.

I remember when Federico Malaman shared this video on Facebook back in 2015, but we never got the chance to share it here. Federico just revived this awesome (and funny) “Electric Bass Battle” with Anton Davidyants.

In honor of Pat Metheny’s birthday earlier this month, Gilad Ephrat recorded “Question & Answer” and shared this video with us. Gilad always impresses us with his videos, and this one is no exception.

Mike Matthews sent us a video simply (and correctly) entitled “Scott Ambush Amazing Bass Solo.” After a little digging, we found the full video, which is taken from a Spyro Gyra performance at Jazz In Marciac back in 2014.
