We’ve featured some impressive young musicians over the years. Usually, they’re bassists. But today, it’s drummer Yoyoka. Yoyoka celebrated her 12th birthday with this session, recording a cover of Deep Purple’s “Burn”.

Richard Bona joined with pianist Alfredo Rodriguez’s band for this live performance at Jazz à Vienne 2021. Here they are performing “Ay Mama Ines”, with Bona on bass and vocals.

It is always great to see a new video from Kinga Glyk. In this clip, Kinga takes on Chick Corea’s “Armando’s Rhumba”.

I’m not even sure how I stumbled onto this clip, but I’m glad I did. This performance of “Our Man” by Made In Sweden is from the band’s later years, which actually featured a Finnish rhythm section of drummer Vesa Aaltonen and bassist Pekka Pohjola.

Paradigm Blue has released “Transit”, an album they call “a love letter to the late seventies Rush records”. Ruben Moreno handles bass, vocals, and keys in the trio. Here’s their video for the track, “The Optimist”.

Alex Al is THAT DUDE. With a list of credits a mile long, every time we see Alex’s name on records we know we are in for a treat. Here he is performing solo at the EBS Booth at a past NAMM Show.

Ever since we first saw a video by Ellen Alaverdyan, we’ve been completely knocked out. This video is as impressive as any by the young bassist. Ellen simultaneously handles the bass and vocals on The Beatles’ “Penny Lane” in this clip.

Aaron Gibson decided to take his song, “The Regretful Climb”, and rearrange it for solo bass. I love Aaron’s approach to solo bass, and this one is another beautiful version.

Pete O’Neill sent us his newest video, and we’re impressed as always. In this clip, Pete turns The Cars’ hit “Drive” into a solo fretless bass arrangement.

Nate Phillips is definitely in the Funk Bass Hall Of Fame. Being one of the founding members of the funk group Pleasure, he is one of the funkiest bass players on record. Here he is with bassist Andre Berry, and Wayne Jones jamming at NAMM.
