BEAT Drops Live “Frame by Frame” Video, Featuring Vai, Levin, Belew & Carey
BEAT just dropped a live video of “Frame by Frame” and it absolutely cooks. Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, Steve Vai, and Danny Carey take the King Crimson classic and give it a new edge. This isn’t a nostalgia act. It’s sharp, alive, and fearless.
Levin is on Chapman Stick for this one, anchoring the track with his signature deep-pocket precision. The interplay with Vai and Belew is tight and tense, a masterclass in control and complexity.
The track is part of their upcoming live album BEAT LIVE, out September 26. The record pulls from the Crimson trilogy of Discipline, Beat, and Three of a Perfect Pair, reworked with fresh energy and wild precision.
Vai calls it a miraculous piece of music. The guitar work is a maze of polymetric riffs, but the vocal melody floats right through it. It’s not easy to play and they make it feel effortless.
The footage was captured during their 2024 tour, which sold out 65 shows across North America. They’ll play a release show at the Budokan in Tokyo on September 1.
The album will be available as a 3-LP set, a Blu-ray with two CDs, and a collector’s edition that includes a bonus CD and a full artbook.
