Norm Stockton Releases The Worship Bass Book: Bass, Espresso, and the Art of Groove
Norm Stockton has released The Worship Bass Book: Bass, Espresso, and the Art of Groove, a 234-page instructional book aimed at helping bassists working in a worship setting. Stockton, who spent six years playing bass for Lincoln Brewster, takes a different approach to the book than you might think.
“As opposed to a comprehensive methodology for all things bass, this will be more of a collection of the nuggets – many of which were acquired through lessons learned the hard way – that I’ve found valuable for my own development as a bass player,” he explains.
Topics include technique, musical concepts, and relational considerations that he says will help all bassists regardless of genre. Stockton covers bass specific concepts ranging from fingerboard familiarity to solo bass arranging to “real-world groove lessons.”
The book is accompanied by a DVD-ROM for following along.
