Gear Watch: DR DDT Strings
DR Strings has announced a new line of strings called the DDT. Designed specifically for drop tuning, the strings feature specific technologies and heavier gauges to help maintain tuning consistency, even way down low. They also attempt to reduce that floppy string feeling and fret buzz.
The Bass DDT’s are available in the following sets:
- Medium DDT-45 (45, 65, 85, 105)
- Heavy DDT-55 (55, 75, 95, 115)
- Extra Heavy DDT-65 (65, 85, 105, 125)
- Medium 5DDT5-45 (45, 65, 85, 105, 125)
- Heavy 5DDT5-55 (55, 75, 95, 115, 135)

Be aware that these sets are balanced for drop DOWN tuning – meaning that the entire set is tuned in 4ths rather than dropping the lowest string the extra whole step. True drop tuners may be disappointed.
