Cory Henry & The Funk Apostles: Live at NAMM ’16

Videos from this year’s Winter NAMM show are starting to roll in, and this one really caught my ear. Cory Henry of Snarky Puppy performed at the ROLI event with his band The Funk Apostles, including bassist MonoNeon.

The band spins out their own jaw-dropping versions of The Jackson Five’s “I Want You Back” and Marvin Gaye’s “Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)” that leaves the crowd stunned. MonoNeon’s sense of groove matched to drummer TaRon Lockett’s beat gives the 20-minute clip a bounce that’s sure to put a smile on your face.

Be sure to put on headphones for this one.

In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast. Kevin appreciates all genres of music, from R&B to metal and everything in between. Connect with Kevin on Facebook and check his performance schedule on his website.

Very Cool. The NAMM after party shows are always the best!

  2. Don’t forget Cleon Edwards on drums….he is the first drummer you see on the clip and Taron is playing as well.
