Throughout 2019, we covered nearly 100 new bass pedals and effects stories. This list makes up the top 10 reader favorites for the year.
1. Tech 21 Unveils the Geddy Lee Signature SansAmp YYZ Pedal

2. Palmer Introduces the Acoustic Pocket Amp
Palmer has announced the Acoustic Pocket Amp, a compact preamp for used with acoustic instruments. It has three instrument modes – Acoustic Guitar, Acoustic Bass, and Magnetic Pickups – with three basic sound settings.
3. EBS Introduces the MicroBass 3 Pedal
EBS expanded their bass pedal offerings this year at the Winter NAMM Show with the EBS MicroBass 3, an analog “multi-tool” for bassists. The unit is a two-channel preamp that brings together features from their HD360 and Fafner II bass amplifiers.
4. Fender Introduces New Effects Including First Bass-Specific Pedal
Fender unveiled six new effects pedals featuring original designed circuits at the 2019 Winter NAMM Show. Notable among the new stompboxes is the Downtown Express, which marks the company’s first official bass effects pedal.
5. Quilter Labs Introduces the InterBass Pedal
Quilter Labs has introduced a new device for bassists called the InterBass. The pedal-sized enclosure is described as a “bass interconnectivity system” and aims to be the solution for modern bassists.
6. Boss Unveils the SY-1 Synthesizer Pedal
Boss has announced the SY-1, a synthesizer pedal that brings their latest technology to a compact format. The unit has 121 synth sounds they say “makes it simple for any guitarist or bassist to incorporate an authentic Boss synth into their music.”
7. Ashdown Engineering Introduces the Phone Box Pedal
Ashdown Engineering introduced a new practice device at the 2019 Winter NAMM Show. The Phone Box allows you to plug into any solid state amplifier and listen to its output through headphones.
8. MXR Unveils the M282 Dyna Comp Bass Compressor Pedal
MXR has expanded their bass pedal lineup with the M282 Dyna Comp Bass Compressor. The new stompbox offers their Dyna Comp sound in a bass-centric format that includes a clean control for maintaining your low end. It’s also tiny.
9. Boss Announces the 200 Pedal Series
Boss has introduced the 200 Series of pedals, including the DD-200 Digital Delay, the EQ-200 Graphic Equalizer, the MD-200 Modulation, and the OD-200 Hybrid Drive.
10. Darkglass Electronics Introduces the Microtubes X Ultra Pedal
Darkglass Electronics has introduced the Microtube X Ultra, which they say “greatly expands” on the versatility of their Microtubes X7 pedal. It has all the same controls as its predecessor but adds four key components.
