“Immediate Family” Documentary Now Streaming

Immediate Family

At long last, the documentary Immediate Family is available to stream. The movie, which is director Denny Tedesco’s followup to The Wrecking Crew, tells the story of a legendary group of session musicians that shaped the music of the ’70s, ’80s, and beyond.

“I had been hesitant to make a follow up to ‘The Wrecking Crew,'” Tedesco recalls. “But when I was approached with the idea of ‘The Immediate Family,’ I didn’t think twice. The Immediate Family consists of; Danny ‘Kootch’ Kortchmar on Guitar, Leland Sklar on Bass, Russ Kunkel on Drums, Waddy Wachtel on Guitar and Steve Postel on Guitar. They were at the genesis of the ‘Singer Songwriter Era’ in the 1970s.”

The band proved pivotal in the studio scene by playing on records for James Taylor, Keith Richards, Jackson Browne, Carole King, Linda Ronstadt, and more, many of whom were interviewed for the movie.

Sklar’s bass lines were the perfect accompaniment to support every song he played on. The film has interviews with him, like this clip talking about the “Producer Switch” on his bass.

Immediate Family is available now through Amazon Prime, AppleTV, YouTube, and more.

How do you write an article about a new doc that is streaming and you don’t tell us where it is streaming?

Sorry, pilot error! That info is wedged between the two promo videos. I did look twice but missed it.
