Leland Sklar and The Immediate Family’s “Skin in the Game” Out Now
The Immediate Family crafted the sound of the ’70s by backing up nearly every important musician of the era in the studio. A documentary on the A-list session musicians was recently released, and now the band has dropped a fresh studio album.
Skin in the Game features thirteen original songs plus a cover of Sparks’ “The Toughest Girl in Town.” Of course, every song features the beautiful bass stylings of Leland Sklar, who locks in perfectly with drummer Russ Kunkel. Together the duo has played on countless hits.
“Sklar and Kunkel’s subtly profound ways of building and holding down a song’s foundation are present throughout Skin In The Game,” a press release explains. “The album’s title track begins with Kunkel’s drumbeat, complemented by Sklar’s sonorous bass. Together, they bring a gravitas that supports the song’s message that life isn’t just about the money; you need to have heart, soul, pride, and be willing to risk everything – ‘skin in the game.'”
Skin in the Game is out now on CD, vinyl and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3).
