Weekly Top 10: July 6-12, 2024
This week’s top 10 list once again includes plenty of bass gear. It also includes the latest Talking Technique bass lesson by Ariane Cap, some news, and another epic video by Charles Berthoud.

1. Ashen Amps Unveils the APG700.4 Bass Amp
Ashen Amps has announced a compact bass amp called the APG700.4. They say it was designed to deliver “pristine articulation and punch, catering to the discerning needs of professional bassists worldwide.”
2. Cort Introduces Artisan C Deluxe Basses
Cort has added to its Artisan line of basses with the C4 and C5 Deluxe. The Artisan C Deluxe model, available in four- and five-string versions, is built with bolt-on construction and features a lightweight poplar body, a hard maple neck, and a 24-fret jatoba fingerboard.
3. Bass of the Week: Natasha Guitars NBSG Bass
This week, we’re checking out a unique instrument called the NBSG Bass from Natasha Guitars. Although it has a minimalist look, the lightweight, silent-style bass has a lot going on.
4. Squier Adds Active Jazz Models and 6-String to Affinity Series Basses
Fender has expanded the Squier Affinity Series with three new basses: the Affinity Active Jazz Bass, the Active Jazz Bass V, and the Jazz Bass VI. The entry-level lineup makes it easier for bassists to acquire an active bass and a six-string.
5. Talking Technique: Breaking Down the Bass Line on “Lost My Treble Long Ago”
In this 75th episode of Talking Technique, we’ll break down the epic Joe Dart bass line to “Lost my Treble Long Ago.” This tune has some cool dead notes, trills, and more.
6. Charles Berthoud: Eye of the Tiger
Charles Berthoud put together another highly entertaining video – in every way. Check out his ripping version of “Eye of the Tiger.”
7. Gerald Veasley Announces Instructors for 2024 Bass BootCamp
Back in May, Gerald Veasley announced that his incredible Bass BootCamp was returning for 2024 on August 9th through the 11th. Veasley has just revealed the faculty lineup this year and it’s stacked.
8. Digitech Introduces the JamMan Solo HD Looper Pedal
Digitech has updated its JamMan series of loopers with the JamMan Solo HD, which builds upon the Solo XT model. The stompbox has an onboard memory that allows for up to 35 minutes of stereo looping with an additional 200 slots and up to 16 hours of recording time.
9. Fender Unveils the Player II Series Basses
Since Fender launched the Player Series basses in 2018, it’s been one of their most successful lines. They expanded on it with the Player Plus models, but now they’ve revamped it with the Player II Series.
10. Duran Duran Announces Halloween Party and East Coast Tour
John Taylor and Duran Duran have an annual Halloween concert at Madison Square Garden, but this year they’re building an East Coast tour around it.
