New Whamola Drop Announced for Memorial Day Weekend: Here’s What’s New

Pachyderm Instruments Whamola and Les Claypool

Pachyderm Instruments and Les Claypool teamed up last year to introduce a production version of the Whamola. However, two limited runs of the wacky one-stringed contraption sold out quickly. The company has now announced that two new batches of the Whamola will drop this Memorial Day weekend. They’ll be dropping the bass on Saturday, May 24th and Monday, May 26th at 1 pm Eastern Time.

The Whamola features a single string on an aluminum and wood body. The pitch is changed by way of an anodized lever while the player typically strikes the string with a stick. On version 2.0, Pachyderm added an extended range, a taller peg leg, an added bridge for playing beneath it, a hood ornament topper, a brushed aluminum finish, and a wenge fingerboard.

The Whamola goes for $649. Pachyderm Instruments suggests getting on their mailing list via their website to get notified of its availability.
