Miki Santamaria never ceases to amaze us, and it would seem he raises the bar with each new video. Here he is performing his solo bass arrangement of Stevie Wonder’s “Overjoyed”, a song he calls one of his favorites. The bass is a Yamaha BB2024X, and he’s using reverb from Garage Band. Amazing.

Gallien-Krueger has released the second video in their new artist series featuring a fantastic bass solo from Carlitos Del Puerto. The bassist, whose career highlights include work with Bruce Springsteen, Chris Botti and Chick Corea, blends several genres into a classical leaning solo.

Omer Cordell sent us this video of a tune he calls “Jennie”. Omer composed and performs this bass-focused tune with multiple bass tracks, harmonics and a nice vibe throughout.

No, it’s not the famed Ozzy Osbourne song, but Gheorghe Postoronca’s “Crazy Train” is epic. The bassist combines a deep pocket with some extended techniques to make a catchy solo bass tune. “Crazy Train” will be featured on Postoronca’s upcoming second solo album.

I randomly stumbled upon the work of Matt Gruebner – aka Maxgroover – over the weekend. His solo bass performance of The Beatles’ “Hey Jude” really knocked me out. Matt is performing this on a Nash Jazz bass.

I don’t know what to say, other than “Watch this and hold on to your hats!”

Bruno Tauzin sent us this video of himself jamming out a smooth fretless bass groove on his Ibanez Gary Willis Signature bass. The laid back track has the bassist playing some soulful licks and a double-time feel to spice things up.
