Today is a day to remember those who have served our country in the U.S. In honor of our fallen service men and women, here’s a great clip of Stu Hamm playing a solo bass rendition of the National Anthem. Happy Memorial Day, and thanks to all who have served.

Inspired by Victor Wooten, bassist Bartek Krolik, composed this tune, “Fiku Miku”, back in 2000. The tune was later recorded for the album, No Bass No Fun. Here, Bartek performs the tune once again on his ’76 Musicman StingRay. Funky!

It wasn’t long ago we featured Andres Rotmistrovsky, who blows us away with his solo bass arrangements. Andres recently shared his latest – an arrangement of “Seminare”, a tune by the Argentinian band Seru Giran written by Charly Garcia.

Greg Bagley, a bassist from Seattle, wrote this original tune, entitled “Flight of Neptune”. Greg is playing his Ken Lawrence bass in this video, and included a slideshow at the end of this video with the original recording of the tune playing over it.

Bassist Scott Mulvahill first wrote this tune, “Leaving Home”, five years ago when he left for college. He recently added a bit to the composition and shared the update. Thanks, Josh, for sharing this one with us!

Here’s a funky clip of Danish bassist Lars Danielsson grooving hard with just him, a drum machine, and his trusty old Fender Jazz. Danielsson effortlessly floats between styles, and wraps it up by playing around with the last lick from Donna Lee.

Bassist Danny Fox sent us a few of his videos, each showcasing his musicianship (and cool Zon Hyperbass). This one, “The Meaning of Times Passing” caught our ear especially. Andres Rotmistrovsky adapted a tune entitled “She’s Mine” by Fito Paez for solo bass. The performance is just stellar, and dig the tone!

Whenever a Dani Weber video hits our radar, I always find myself impressed not only with his bass playing, but also his compositions. Here, Dani performs his solo bass piece “Don’t Look Too Far”.

Yesterday, we featured a performance by Average White Band, performing “Cut the Cake” live. Today, another AWB tune – “Pick up the Pieces” – this time performed as a solo bass looper arrangement by Nathan Williams.

Berthold Basten‘s love for his Godin fretless bass inspired him to write a tune. We thought you’d enjoy it too.

Bassist Eric Czar recorded this beautiful, multi-tracked all-bass composition, using his 6-string fretless. The story behind the bass is interesting too… Eric took an old Ibanez SR-406 6-string bass he bought for $300 and ripped the frets out himself. His advice? “Don’t be fooled by the price tag!”
