Pete O’Neill sent us his newest video, and we’re impressed as always. In this clip, Pete turns The Cars’ hit “Drive” into a solo fretless bass arrangement.

Nate Phillips is definitely in the Funk Bass Hall Of Fame. Being one of the founding members of the funk group Pleasure, he is one of the funkiest bass players on record. Here he is with bassist Andre Berry, and Wayne Jones jamming at NAMM.

Here’s a great clip from Yes’s Youtube channel archives, featuring the band in a live performance at the Rainbow Theatre in 1972. This was the “Close to the Edge” tour, with the mighty Chris Squire on bass and backing vocals on “And You And I”.

Gilad Ephrat sent us his latest video in his collaboration with pianist Shai Even. Gilad wrote “The Seventh Heaven” in the middle of the night, “almost during a dream”. The result is a remarkable tune and performance.

Recorded in 2008 in Los Angeles, here’s Herbie Hancock, Bob Sheppard, Marcus Miller, Lionel Loueke, and Vinnie Colaiuta performing “Cantaloupe Island” and “River”. Joni Mitchell took the stage for the second song, and Marcus switched to double bass.
