Philipp Rehm sent us this video he recorded with Dutch singer Tania Kross. Philipp described it as “bass / beat / vocal track,” and while it wasn’t what we expected, we really dig this sound.

In this clip, bassist Nicholas Johnson and guitarist Jabari Johnson start “the year off on the rooftop of The Potter’s House.” Nicholas’ playing is just flat out sick, with a big, fat tone.

We’ve featured Adam Ben Ezra performing “The Busker” before, but this one is new and equally cool. It is always amazing to hear the sounds Adam can create.

We recently featured a great Scary Pockets video with Tim Lefebvre anchoring the band on their take of “Valerie.” Here’s another one, with the band’s funky arrangement of Bob Marley’s “Is This Love.”

Joel Quarrington is one of the greatest double bassists of our generation. Here he performs Bach’s entire sixth cello suite, BWV 1012, which features six movements. The emotion put into every note will leave you on the edge of your seat.

“Seek and Destroy” is one of my favorite Metallica songs, so it’s nice to see they’ve kept it in rotation. This clip from Dreamfest is exceptional. Not only does the whole band kill it, Robert Trujillo does one of the craziest stage moves I’ve ever seen.

Cellist/vocalist Marie Spaemann and bassist Snow Owl teamed up on this video to perform Spaemann’s “Gap.” This one completely knocked me out. Individually, both musicians play magnificently. Together, it is an incredible musical conversation.

Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume knew that you can never have too much bass, which is precisely why he created the octobass. Jonathan Camps and Nicola Moneta perform a beautiful version of “Amazing Grace” with the instrument. Boost your subs for this one.

This version of Graham Central Station’s “Water” by Dumpstaphunk is stellar – AND it has two bassists. Nick Daniels and Tony Hall share Larry Graham’s bass line as they lead the band in this 2013 performance.
