St. Paul and the Broken Bones: “Call Me,” Live
I don’t watch The Late Show a lot, but I know that when David Letterman goes on about how great the band is for two whole minutes before letting them play, it’s going to be good. In fact, it’s so good that Letterman has them start the song up again after they finish.
St. Paul and the Broken Bones is a 7-piece band that carries on the tradition of classic southern soul. Blending warm bass, gritty guitar, organ, and horns, the band lays down a serious feel-good groove for frontman Paul Janeway to pour his heart out.
The band was started in 2012 by Janeway and bassist Jesse Phillips, whose tasty lines become their own melody of sorts. If this doesn’t get you dancing, check your pulse.
(If you want to hear just the song, skip to 2:08).
