Robert Randolph & the Family Band are back with a new album called “Brighter Days.” Randolph’s band is aptly named: each member is a relative of his. That includes bassist Danyel Morgan, who helps to deepen the groove with blues, gospel, and R&B lines.

The Dead Daisies have released “Locked and Loaded,” a covers album. The band, anchored by bass great Marco Mendoza, will also be hitting the road for a U.S. tour in support of his latest solo album, “Viva La Rock.”

Multi-instrumentalist Raphael Saadiq has returned with his first new album in eight years. “Jimmy Lee” is a darker turn for the neo-soul star and serves partly as a reflection of his brother, who died of a heroin overdose.

Bassist Charlie Wooton has released a new album with his solo project called “Blue Basso.” Named after his well-worn and well-loved bass, the record also helps to pay tribute to one of his idols: Jaco Pastorius.

In another piece of evidence that 1969 was an incredible year for music, ZZ Top was formed. Now the iconic rock band is celebrating their 50th anniversary with a new album and a massive tour.

The trio of saxophonist Ted Nash, guitarist Steve Cardenas, and bassist Ben Allison have teamed up once again for a new recording. “Somewhere Else” reimagines the music of “West Side Story” into their three-piece format, with room for experimentation.

Lionel Richie has released “Hello From Las Vegas,” a new live album recorded during his 2018 residency at the Planet Hollywood Resort. Richie was joined by bassist Ethan Farmer, who got the chance to throw down on a medley of classic funk hits.

Shock Narcotic is a new project featuring members and former members of the top acts in metal including Jeff Tuttle, Zach Gibson, Shawn Knight, and Don Slater. They’ve just released their first album, “I Have Seen the Future and It Doesn’t Work.”

Killswitch Engage has released “Atonement,” which is being hailed as a return to form by the metalcore outfit. Fiery riffs and melodic vocals dominate the record and call back to their heyday of “Alive or Just Breathing” and “End of Heartache.”

Slipknot has returned with their sixth album, entitled “We Are Not Your Kind.” The album is a return to some of their heavier sounds, and the second studio album to feature bassist Alessandro Venturella.

Elvis Presley’s big comeback in 1969 began with a run of 57 sold-out shows in Las Vegas. It was the dawn of a new era, thanks in part to a new band, including session bassist Jerry Scheff. The new “Elvis: Live 1969” release features 11 complete sets.

While Woodstock 50 has been officially canceled, there are plenty of great celebrations of the fiftieth anniversary of the infamous music festival. That includes the long-awaited release of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s set from the event.
