Bass and drum duo Royal Blood have just dropped their fourth album, “Back to the Water Below.” The rock revivalists hunkered down in their home studio in Brighton, where they opted to produce the record themselves.

Christian Fabian has returned with a new trio album called “Hip to the Skip.” Fabian plays a variety of styles (he swings hard in the Lionel Hampton Big Band), but for this outing he opted to explore funk and fusion jazz.

Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On” turns 50 this year. Now, a new deluxe edition of the album has been packaged with an additional 33 bonus tracks, including 18 previously unreleased.

Mark Lettieri led a solo tour earlier this year to share his music and his killer band, which includes Jason “JT Thomas on drums, Daniel Porter on keyboards, and Wes Stephenson on bass. Now he’s released an album from the trek.

Jonathan Scales Fourchestra has just released their eighth album, entitled “Re-Potted,” which the steel pan virtuoso wrote shortly after moving to New York City from North Carolina. The album includes bassist E’Lon JD.

Pop punk legends MxPx have released their 11th studio album, entitled “Find A Way Home.” The 13-song collection is tied together by a sense of community and working together.

You may not know it, but modern funk guitar hero Cory Wong actually got his musical start on the bass. Wong has just returned with a new solo album called “The Lucky One,” featuring both his guitar and bass talents.

Songstress Rhiannon Giddens has returned with her third solo album and the first of all originals. “You’re the One” features Giddens’ longtime bassist, Jason Sypher, who lays down the grooves on both electric and upright bass.
