Le Coq Records launched last January with “The Jazz All Stars, Vol. 1”. Now the fresh jazz label is showing off its impressive roster again with Volume 2 with John Patitucci, Chris Colangelo, and Ben Williams on bass.

Bassist and composer Ilaria Capalbo has released her stunning debut album, “Karthago”, which blends the jazz tradition with contemporary improvisation.

We’ve been enjoying the studio videos from Scary Goldings featuring organist Larry Goldings for the past few months, and now the full album is available. “Scary Goldings IV” is a collection of ever-funky grooves with Goldings and an unreal band.

Guitarist Dave Stryker has released his 34th album as a leader and his musical maturity shows. “As We Are” includes a jazz quartet (with John Patitucci) and a string quartet.

After two decades on the shelf, David Bowie’s 2001 album “Toy” has gotten an official release. Bowie’s band at the time included Mark Plati, Sterling Campbell, Earl Slick, Mike Garson, Holly Palmer, Emm Gryner, and Gail Ann Dorsey.

Kenny James has added another title to his “Invisiblemann” albums, and it’s got some stank on it. Volume 15 of the series is entitled “Intergalactic Funk Coalition” and features fat, retro funk grooves with modern twists.

Italian bass great Lorenzo Feliciati has just released a retrospective album called “Early Years” that compiles some of his best work from his album “Upon My Head” and “Live at European Bass Day and More”.

Motörhead celebrated the late Lemmy Kilmister’s birthday last month by releasing the second volume of their “Löst Tapes” series. The album features a previously unreleased concert from Norwich UEA during their 1998 “Snake Bite Love” tour.

Back in 2019, bass guru Norm Stockton launched a web series called “Grooves & Sushi” in which he called top-shelf musicians to make music and commune over a meal. Now the project has been released as an album.

Consider The Source has always blended different styles of world music, but their latest release takes it to a new level. “Hybrid Vol. 1: Such As A Mule” expands their already diverse palette to include acoustic instruments for new textures.

Fernando Molinari has a new album out that may be one of the year’s best prog and fusion records. “Reaching Inside” is packed with tantalizing riffs and grooves that the bassist has been honing over the past few years.

Just in time for the holidays, Katie Thiroux has released a new four-song EP called “Christmas For One”. The aptly-titled album is a solo effort to showcase her magnificent bass and vocal work on classic holiday songs.
